We have chosen the Latin poet Horace from many poets and artists who could be a source of inspiration for various reasons, for example:

  • he has the same name of Clarabel’s fiancèe;
  • he lived in Sabine, our province, or in his villa in Tivoli, preferring to live a long way from Rome;
  • he loved, perhaps more than anything else, country life, making it the keystone of his philosophy (often misunderstood as easy pleasure, instead of giving sense to details) and source of constant inspiration for his poetry.

The third reason is what we share deeply. Like Horace we come from Rome, we belong to that great city, and we cannot nor do we want to leave it. Rome is where all national and international issues are rooted and Rome is a symbol of complexity and of action, of variety and of choice.

The countryside is our contradiction: it represents contrast, the difficult choice for us, hard work, separation but, at the same time, inner peace, the pleasure of looking, relaxation, the maximum value of the minimum.

Opening this place to others (our sense of hospitality originates from Horace’s philosophy) is the way that we found for living within our contradiction as if it were the solution.

And then there is Internet… but this is an other story.
